Early Michael Mann crime direction: classic crime film; early shots that would become Michael Mann classics. Although this is set in the present day Los Angeles of the time, the beginning of the film reminds me a bit of the futuristic Los Angles in Ridley Scott's 1982 Blade Runner. Hard to believe that in between this and Manhunter (which introduced the world to Hannibal Lecter [spelled Lektor in the credits]), Mann made The Keep!.
