I recently posted over Silent film blog about silent images in modern films, in that case about Bram Stokers Dracula (1992); this has just as many or more, than that film does. People often reference The Three Stooges when talking about all the gags in this, but I recognized all type of slapstick stuff going all the way back to the earliest gag reels. The Three Stooges got a lot their stuff from the works produced by Mack Sennett, founder of the Keystone Keys, who first introduced the likes of Fatty Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin to the screen and popularized slapstick in the first place. There's also a lot of great stuff borrowed from early trick films, the undisputed master of which was Meiles. No wonder it's so damn funny!! Extra "demony" too! (Of, course there's that other film reference, inside joke thing, "crazy buck's gone blood simple!")
