"Kombucha Mushroom Tea"
When Claire's friend Jody brings her a special gift in What Lies Beneath, she tells her it's a cure for her perceived, weirded-out empty nest syndrome, and calls it "Kombucha Mushroom Tea." She says her psychic recommends it... Only one, maybe two problems with that, first of all Kombucha is not anything to do with mushrooms...and it, while it is a tea, and some companies sell in in boxed form, it's not strictly speaking a "brewed affair." Rather it's a fermented beverage that is made with something that is akin to making homemade fruit vinegars. But, Jody does get the claiming bits right!! I've never made the stuff (and would like to try), but in the interest of this trained "foodie," I'm not going to give a recipe for the stuff, rather I'll give some links where tried and true instructions can be found....that is if you are brave! This is true Halloween horror in a jar!! Pictures below!!
