This is based on a true story, and one that has almost become quaint in the wake of other rogue trading....this, despite that it managed to reduce one of the oldest financial institutions in the world to the worth of £1 (the Nick Leeson himself points out Barings financed the Louisiana Purchase). JP Morgan Chase's stated lose of 6.2 billion in the London Whale Case (I've done the math multiple times, they must have been more like 9 billion) makes this stuff look positively penny-anny!
