Despite that "The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby Doo" has that annoying Scrappy Doo in it...it also has Vincent Price, so the adults can have some moments with Vinny and Scooby together. Besides, I'm not sure The Peanut likes Scrappy anyway--there's a reason why he was "the guy" in the live action film! The menacing trees are just a nice added touch!
And then there is the classic stop motion animation from 1967 Mad Monster Party?, which features all of the classic "monsters"--so why not a monster killer plant to round things out?? Clearly, the film is a HUGE influence on Tim Burton, who, alas, has not managed (as far as I know) to produce a killer plant of any kind....one can dream!
