I've written about this Supernatural episode before, suffice to say that the Wendigo is one of the "big ones" of Native American "booger stories." It's a cannibalistic human turned into a real and horrible monster! Think of it as part shapeshifter, like a werewolf, and combine that with a Romero like zombie! Nasty.
