Another "Christmas film" that I am exceedingly fond of. Richard Roxburgh is probably best known for his hammy performance as Dracula in Van Helsing, but he made a damn good Sherlock Holmes for just one performance!! Take my word for it, if you are irritated by relatives making a bit too merry at Christmas this year, this is the anecdote!! To bring things to a nice conclusion to this day counting down to Halloween, John Nettles who plays Inspector Barnaby in Midsomer Murders assays the role of the doctor in this version of Conan Doyle's classic.
