Since this is an interactive project with the movies and episodes being viewed this Friday are going to be used and screened during this spring semester by writing students, I thought I would present some critical analysis of the Friday focus titles today. Again the theme is Violence As A Concept
But before I post anything I would like to say how horrible the events in Arizona last weekend are! We are sorry for the loses and hope the injured make a speedy and full recovery. This day had been scheduled for a couple of months now. We are not intending any insult to injury here. If anything, at least for the students who will be taking this course, the shooting will be a good example of how when violence is ignored, it builds and gets worse. Clearly the shooter was in need of help and didn't receive it in time. If examining violence and violent tendencies helps raise awareness of a need to be proactive, then this course can possibly do some good.
