Whoever told Jan de Bont that he could direct a Haunted House film, seriously misled him...and that "someone" was undoubtedly himself....or maybe Paul Verhoven... In any case, the remake of the classic 1963 Robert Wise directed classic is a mere shade of it's original; it's really more like an amusement park ride....but it's great for housework!! Besides, my cat Weena LOVES it!
