Nominated for a measly 4 Oscars and winning only one for best visual effects, while Oliver took home the statue for Best Picture--which 2001 wasn't even nominated for (!), and the win for best director, which Kubrick was nominated for. Perhaps the most annoying snub was that Planet Of The Apes was nominated for, but did not win, best costume design, because the idiots in Hollywood thought the apes in 2001 were real!
