Weird Woman (1944)

In a nod to native Hawaiians, who are warmly included in the Museum of the American Indian, I'm viewing one of the Inner Sanctum mystery movies, all of which stars horror's own icon Lon Chaney Jr.

The film is silly, of course, but it was made in 1944, and it features actual Hawaiian natives--rare for any film of the time "depicting" natives from any culture; so from a Native perspective it stands out.  As silly as the script is, especially when it comes to female parts, it is shot beautifully!  The shots are almost perfect and the blacks in the black and white format really pop.  It's a little startling to have such a well shot movie have such a bad script.  But, oh well.  For the purposes of the day, it will do fine.
