This is the original(s) take on the black martini
BLAVOD MARTINI
2 1/2 oz. Blavod black vodka
1/2 oz dry vermouth
Cocktail shaker
Ice
Martini Glass
Garnish is optional
Simple! Shake the vodka and vermouth together in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish if you like. The traditional olive is the obvious choice, but I like pitted black Kalamata olive better, since the drink is black. Another garnish is a toothpick with one pickled onion, one cornichon (small French cuke pickle) and one olive.
VARIATIONS:
You may go sweet with this using sweet vermouth. In that case, if you want a garnish, go with the traditional maraschino cherry.
A "Perfect" can be made with both types of vermouth.
A "Straight" is just the shaken black vodka on it's own. No garnish.
A "Smokey" is made with scotch, with or without vermouth of choice.
A "Dirty" is with dry vermouth and olive juice.
An "Extra Dry" is just a small splash of dry vermouth.
A "Sour" is with fresh lemon juice and no vermouth. Garnish with lemon wedge. Same goes for lime.
