I'm aware that I lot of people don't regard this as a horror film--insisting that it is a really, really scary suspense thriller. I'm not one of these people! Seriously, if Psycho is solidly, and universally, considered a horror film, why then is this not? It's got many of the same elements, and even parts are based on the same real to life serial killer: Eddy Gein. In any case, I do remember that I lot of horror fans were over the moon when this took home so many Oscars, including best picture. The only snub it recieved, and in my opinion it was a big one, was that Ted Levine wasn't even nominated for best supporting actor...and boy did he deserve to be....even to win! Here is a link You Tube link to the famous "basket scene."
