The Fargo blu ray is a much better deal than "O Brother." If you buy the disc by itself, Amazon sells it for $16.07 and for that you get a pretty hopped two disc edition that not only contains a blu ray that looks good and is free from transfer imperfections, which is important when you have a film that is so full of snow. When Blu Rays get reviewed, the gold standard is usually how well the darks and blacks look, because the process produces stunning High Def. results in those areas of film, but in Fargo it's really all about the whites, which can be equally as tricky; the thing is that most films just don't have a great deal of ultra white in them, so it's not usually any kind of issue. But....leave it to the Coen's to give us another quirky crime film where the snow is almost the star...forget the cast of serious actors...or the Oscars won....it's the snow that steals the show. The two disc edition also contains a regular DVD copy, which the preferred Blu Ray option in my house, since we and relatives only have just the one Blu Ray machine between us....DVD players, on the other hand, we have abundance; plus the DVD copy also looks good. The Blu Ray also has a unique commentary track by director of photography Roger Deakins, Minnesota Nice featurette, Trivia Track, plus stills and an article. The DVD also has special features, the highlight of which is an interview with the Brothers and Frances McDormand.
Additionally, the film is an even better deal when bought in a blu ray box set, which Amazon sells for $45.99, which also contains 4 of their other crime classics--that comes out to about $9.20 per Blu Ray.
