Leverage: Theme Drink Recipe 1

THE BOSTON COCKTAIL

I figured that so much of the Leverage crew's time is spent in the Pub (well, bar) below Nate's that cocktails would be in order today.  The thing is, they don't really order cocktails.  I mean a shot and a brew or a glass of wine or even a cup of coffee, or even a glass of Champagne, which is what you see them drinking most of time--not really a recipe!  Nate's ubiquitous "shot of Irish neat" isn't either.  So, the show is set in Boston, and cocktails have a very long history there, even a few named for the place.  Here's a modern take on a very old Beantown cocktail.

1 to 1 2/3 oz. good gin
1 oz. apricot brandy
2/3 oz. FRESH lemon juice
2 dashes grenadine
Twist of lemon peel (optional)

Fill cocktail shake 1/2 full of ice.  Add all ingredients and shake until it feels frozen.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with lemon twist if desired.

VARIATION

Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice and pour strained cocktail over, garnish with lemon peel and/or fresh mint, if wanted.
