28 Days Later

Considered to be the "smart zombie movie," because it isn't really about zombies that rise from the grave, but rather rabid people who are infected and will eventually starve to death, since they don't actually eat people.  Directed by Danny Boyle on digital HD--it was one of the very first movies of any genre to be widely released shot directly on video.  For that reason, the digital look on Blu-Ray is kind of surreal, but it works.  It should be pointed out, however, that the first zombie(like) flick, were people are infected is David Cronenberg's classic Rabid.
