Die Screaming Marianne (1972)

A horror thriller set simulteanously in Britian and Portugal, two (half) sisters live one with each parent after a divorce, when the mother, who lives in England kicks it, things start to get weird for the daughter.  Not only is she attempting a tough idependent existence, ubeknowist to her, the people who keep showing up in her life have ulterior motives and may not be who she thinks they are--of course, it doesn't help that the audience is informed that her 21st birthday it looming.  From the director of such Brit Horror classics as Frightmare & House Of Whipcord (and 1983's old guys comedy horror House Of Long Shadows), this is Pete Walker's 5th directorial effort and the first that he had not active hand in writing; however it is right in line with the sexploitation genre he started out in though this is a much more sophisticated story, with a lot a twists and turns than the much more in your face sort of films that predate it.
