The 1974 rock opera-ish work of Brian de Palma, it tells the twisted story of a composer who becomes disfigured, has an obsession with a beautiful young singer, and skulks around a theatrical rock club....sound familiar??
Speaking of musical adaptation outside the box. Peter and The Star Catcher is loosely based on the Peter Pan story, and is one of the only off-Broadway musicals to hit it off big enough to actually make to the Broadway stage...never mind that it is now nominated for 9 Tonys!
