The Last Man On Earth is pretty well known for it's reputation as a Romero Night Of The Living Dead influence; but no one seems to see it as the original script for the Will Smith I Am Legend. Since I watched "Legend" for the first time today, and couldn't help noticing that the movie seemed as serious updating of this plot (are they vampires or zombies...both!), with dogs in both. Granted, the dog in "Legend" is a side kick and is part of the effort to figure out a cure for the people turned creature; "Last Man" also features a dog moment that is pivotal, proving another similarity between the two films: namely that dogs are infected as well as humans. Morgan (Vincent Price), finds a dog when out on one his day time runs that seems not infected. He takes the dog home for tests... I've embed this film before, but what the hell...since it's in the public domain, why not do it again?
