Well, as killer plant films goes, this is one (along with the original) that everyone knows.  We now even has a kitty named "Mushnik." This is also an excellent alien invasion monster flick and an even better musical!

Oscars Weekend: Alien (1980 Winner)

Every year I post up something crowing about the Best Visual Effects Oscar that this film took home in 1980, (it was also nominated for Best Set Decoration--which it should have won for (!), All That Jazz took home the gold guy instead.) but every year I am still blown away nearly 40 years on by the visuals in this film! It is obvious to mention the late artist H.R. Giger when bringing up the award, but actual set designers Carlo Rambaldi, Brian Johnson, Nick Allder and Dennis Ayling, who shared the award with Giger, are the unsung heroes of the film.

Alien Monster:  Another case of aliens infecting humans and turning them into monster freaks...some odd combination of sea creature and bug!

October 2 Alien Monsters: Under The Skin (2013)

It's hard to say what kind of alien "The Female" is, and a lot has been written about what exactly she up to with the men she lures--aside from, obviously, sex; no one has really speculated that a component of her activities may be consumption (in the act of consummation) of some sort. It's a little hard to see her as not having a type of "feeding" element to her behaviors. Aside from the obvious: that she is indeed some type of alien creature from somewhere, her trolling matches up almost exactly with the methods of a human serial killer....and a male one at that. 

Alien Monster: a true xenomorph from a flying saucer no less!!
