Titus (Anthony Hopkins 1999)

Yet another turn with Julie Taymor's luscious and brash interpretations of Shakespeare's non-historical Roman play--it is truly a household favorite.  A cast next to none; performances also.  One, also cannot help but revel in Sir Tony Hopkins channeling his inner-Lecter in the scene explaining to Tamora's son's what he is about to do to them!  [See below].  Also here, are the multi-talented Alan Cumming and James Frain, going at it politically in the open air of some time or another...  This is not quite so much modern dress, it seems to me the more I see it, as it is a production along all historical time-lines; from the truly ancient to through the thoroughly modern.
