On Now: Jack Reacher (2012)

I know I blogged this during the great Countdown To Halloween last month under "Bad Asses," but this car chase is based heavily on that classic chase in Bullit (1968) with the late great Steve McQueen--just couldn't not include in a celebration of great car chase movies--since Bullit is currently unavailable.  Full chase embed up.

Ryan Gosling as "The Driver" makes absolutely the quietest bad ass here today, and he's up against a situation that is doubled up.  Similar to Trejo's Bad Ass, but this is based on a book, and not a true story.  This is also our second film today with the multi-talented Ron Pearlman...only he's not the bad guy this time!  And, again, we have as our bad guy not the person you would think would scare you at all, well....

Yeah, serioulsy, Nemo's Dad!!   Mr. Albert Brooks as Bernie Rose, and he is fuckin' scary!

If you have chosen to view the above clip, then you might recognize another bad ass, just of criminal variety from television!  And, yes, this is also a neo noir.
