Killer Plants 3: Annihilation
Alex Garland's Annihilation is a gorgeously shot horror that, among many highly stylized scary incarnations, includes all manner of plant mutations that clearly...well, annihilate any humans in contact with them within what the movie calls "the shimmer." In my opinion, Rob Hardy, Garland's cinematographer out-did himself on this; but, so did the entire production team (check out the full credits here).
Killer Plant 1: Godzilla vs. Biollante
It's kind of fitting that the following clip was posted to Dailymotion 10 years ago, as this is the ten year anniversary of my Friday live blog! Killer plants are basically the mascot of this blog too! Biollante is one of my all time favorites--she (yes, it's a "she") is a giant mutant rose bush and has to be one of the all time largest killer plant creatures out there (bigger even than Audrey Jr!). And speaking of Little Shop of Horrors, I've noticed that Boillante's design is actually pretty close to the original "Audrey" design from the original 1960 Roger Corman film.
Released in 1989, this Kaiju mash-up certainly has all the trappings of a 80's film, with cheesy computer noises and cheap looking panels with blinking lights....and some real 80's sounding music in parts! All the monster goodness that a gal like me could possibly want!

Weather: Groundhog Day
Weather Type: Blizzard Time Loop
A few weeks back a hurricane, Hermine, rolled over us here in the deep south, making landfall just west of our fish camp in Florida--it was a Friday. First Friday in decades that a Frights movie marathon wasn't played for the day. So missing that Friday--I'm turning this Monday into a Friday and getting revenge by playing films related to extreme weather....
