Sleepy Hollow (1999)

This was nominated for 3 Oscars and won for Best Art & Set Decoration.  A pity, I think that Danny Elfman's soundtrack was not even nominated.

An American Werewolf In London (1981)

Won for the brand new category of Best Makeup.  The very, very talented Rick Baker presented his golden statue by one of kings of horror himself!!  

Peanut's Choice: Ratatouille (2007)

Nominated for 5 Oscars, it took home the most important statue that it was nominated for:  Best Animated Feature Film.

Alien3 (1992)

Nominated for the Best Visual Effects Oscars, but lost to Death Becomes Her.  Late great artist H. R. Giger was the artistic director on this one.  

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)--Remembering Alan Rickman

This was nominated for 3 Oscars, including Best Actor for Depp.  It won 1, for  Art Direction:  Set Decorator and Art Director.  Blogging this to remember Alan Rickman, who played the real bad guy.  Third number down features the late great Rickman in song!  RIP  

Currently Nominated: Mad Max--Fury Road (2015)

I've said it before, albeit on Twitter, that I have no real idea how this film got a jaw dropping 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture; when there were quite a few serious snubs this year (and that's not even approaching the controversy 2nd year in a row about lack of diversity!).  There is no point listing all ten nominations, if interested visit IMDb here.  

Currently Nominated: Sicario

Currently nominated for 3 Oscars:  Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing and Best Soundtrack.  And trust me, the soundtrack deserved the nomination.  In my opinion, it deserves the win!  Cinematographer Roger Deakins is best known for his work with the Coen Brothers.
