Random Hitchcock: Rear Window (1954)

This is by far and away my favorite of Hitchcock voyeur films and my favorite of his films starrring James Stewart!  It was also Grace Kelly's next the last performance in a Hitchcock movie before her famous marriage in Europe.  The chemistry that the wheelchair bound reporter Jefferies (Stewart) and his gal pal Lisa (Kelly) is cut with perfect pitch by Stella (Thelma Ritter), Jefferies nurse.  Together they slowly uncover clues as what became of the wife of a man, Lars Thorwall, played in super, super creepy fashion by Raymond Burr, who lives in a apartment across the courtyard from Jefferies flat.  Thorwall keeps insisting that she is out of town...only Jefferies as a huge pair of binaculars and loads of time on hands, since he has a huge cast on his leg, and the more that they look, the more it looks like Mrs. Thorwall came to some sort of a sticky end.  Problem is, sooner or later Thorwall catches on, and, of course it doesn't help that Jefferies police friend doesn't believe a word!  The screenplay was adapted by John Michael Hayes based on a short story by Cornell Woolrich.
