This Oscar are shitty when it comes to horror--we horror fans all know this well. It is especially bad this year, 2019, with only one film--A Quiet Place--barely nominated; and so many great films left out in the cold (Annihilation & Hereditary just to name two). However, every once and a while a horror film comes along with just takes the Academy and shakes the hell out of them (pun possibly intended 😉). The Exorcist was one of them. Nominated for 10 gold dudes (that's 3 more than Silence Of The Lambs)...it won only two, but still, what a year for horror! Won in 1974 for Best Sound and Best Adapted Screenplay...and let's face it: all three actors nominated should have won...and so should Friedkin for direction!!
