Random Hitchcock: Stage Fright (1950)

Although the have different source material Stage Fright has a story so similar to that of Murder (1930), that it can almost be considered a remake of that film.  The gender roles are reversed, here the murderer is a female and victim is male; the person accused of the crime is male and the person trying clear his good name is female.  In Murder those are all reversed.  The one thing that they completely in common is that of the action taking place in the entertainment industry, namely that of the theater.  The film was marketed heavily on the fact that German actress Marlene Dietrich was working with the master of suspense, but Jane Wyman is a co-star, and not chopped liver!!  The film also stars British actor Michael Wilding and Irish actor Richard Todd.  Much acclaimed Scottish actor Alistair Sim, who is well known for his turn as Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1951 production of A Christmas Carol just the next year, also has a role.
