White Pongo (1945)

"White Pongo" is just an albino gorilla, that in the film is a forest or jungle protector in the central African Congo.  In the real world albino gorillas, though rare, do exist, but as mountain gorillas are hunted as bush meat, the gene pool has been reduced to such an extent, that, no doubt, they are increasingly rare--gorillas have been RARE!  For some strange reason, the film seems to like that the existence of such a creature proves a link between man and primates--rather than it just simply being a white gorilla.  So, for that reason we're calling it a cryptid.

That can't possibly be a man in an ape suit!!

Here is a link Kieran Suckling's blog on Huff Post, the latest entry is on Endangered Species Day.  He is the executive director for the Center For Biological Diversity.  It's an up beat piece.
