This guy really is a creep!! The Caganer, which is literally "little pooper," is a figurine found in Nativity scenes mostly in parts of Spain and it associated with Catalan culture everywhere. No one is quite certain how they originated, but they are known to have entered into the Nativity scene sometime in the 18th century; their history may actually go all the way back to pre-Christian Roman times in some form. These things have become all the rage with figurine collectors, and all manner of famous people from Bruce Springsteen to The Queen of England have been turned into these little shitters! Their symbolism is associated with bringing fertility to the land for the next spring's planting....but, disturbingly....they have come more broadly represent fertility of all sorts. So when William and Kate were married 19 months ago...you guessed it, they were both turned into caganer's....and it only took a year and a half to work "it's magic!" These are so popular in Catalan Spain, they are often found super-sized in shopping malls as part of Christmas decorations...imagine holiday shopping with a giant pooper in the middle of your local mall!

| This is a similar Christmas tradition in roughly the same region and overlapping into other parts of Spain...it's the "pooping log" that "extrudes" candy when whipped....what is wrong with these people?? |
